Web Mail Help
ATMC is pleased to introduce our new Web Mail service, offering better functionality, more options and a fresh new look.
Don't worry - the way you access your email, your email address and your password has not
changed. Your emails and your saved contact information are still available.
Your "white list" addresses and "black list" blocked addresses are also still in effect.
Simply keep doing what you have been doing when you are ready to send or check your email.
The new user interface is very similar in look and feel to Outlook®.

Setting Up Email Software
ATMC now uses IMAP. IMAP is a quick and efficient protocol for communicating between Outlook Express
and the e-mail server. By default, messages are stored on the server and can be accessed from different
computers.
Set Up Instructions
Please see our email software set up instructions to help you set up your email software with ATMC.
ATMC's Email Services
Listed below are services to enhance your online experience. These
services apply to both dial-up and broadband Internet accounts .
Email Services:
Email has become a common form of communication for everyone from
business people to grandparents and children. ATMC offers the most
robust services available with our new advanced webmail application. Supported protocols include: webmail, POP and
virtual email and more.
Email Forwarding: This will allow you to have email forwarded
from accounts within ATMC's Internet service to other accounts which
could include: email within a different domain, a different account
within your domain or another email service entirely.
Domain Dropbox: This gives you the opportunity to parse email
messages delivered to a single email account to other recipients from
the single dropbox. This is great if you want more control over email
distribution within your own domain.
SMTP Relay: If you wish to maintain your own email server and
have your own domain, service is delivered through SMTP relay. ATMC
routes all emails with SMTP relay from the public server to your private
server for administration and additional distribution. All routing on
your private server is your responsibility.
Virtual Email Accounts: Some users may have specific requirements
for multiple email addresses. Virtual email accounts accomplish this
need. ATMC provides you the ability to alias general accounts such as
info@widgets.com or sales@widgets.com to a real person such as
bob@widgets.com.
Virus Protection
The amount of damage viruses can do to your computer or network range
from annoying to catastrophic. Viruses have gone from being an annoyance
to being highly sophisticated, dangerous, and malicious. Therefore, they
must be dealt with seriously, constantly and vigilantly.
Virus Removal Feature:
- The infected portion of the email is removed prior to being stored in the Spam Folder, and users are able
to read the text-based content of the email message detected in their email.
The
Spam Folder is a quarantine area for both spam messages, and messages that are infected with a virus. Users of their
Spam Folder may forward messages to their inbox, modify spam and virus settings, view statistics, manage whitelists and blacklists, and more. These are a few of the functions that help customers manage their undesirable emails.
Spam Filters Features:
- All incoming messages pass through the system.
- Email identified as spam are placed in SPAM Folder.
- Messages left in the Spam Folder are automatically purged in 7 days.
- You can choose your level of spam filtering with SpamShield Pro. Your prefences may be set by selecting Options on the top right menu in the webmail application, then selecting SpamShield Pro® at the bottom of the middle column.
Managing Account - Email Setup
Managing Multiple Email Accounts
Additional email accounts are available through ATMC Internet service.
Customers may request up to 5 email accounts free with the purchase of
ATMC Internet service. You must already have Internet service from ATMC
set up on the computer for which you want to add the additional email
account. An additional email account only provides you with an
additional email box on our server. It does not allow you to access the
Internet. To sign up for an additional email, you may contact a Customer
Service Representative at 754-4311.
Setting up Multiple Email Accounts on One Machine
Of the three major email software programs; Eudora, Netscape Mail, and
Outlook Express; Outlook Express is the only program that can be
configured to access multiple email accounts. Also, if you have multiple
email accounts set up in Outlook Express, when you download your email,
all emails for all accounts that you have set up in Outlook Express are
removed from our email server and put into the same Inbox on your
computer. Also, emails sent from Outlook Express are addressed from the
account that is set as the primary email account. Since Outlook Express,
by default, does not separate the individual email account into separate
Inboxes, the following options should be considered when setting up
multiple email accounts on one machine. For all options, you must have
the username and password for the new account in order to complete the
set up or access the account:
Set up all accounts in Outlook Express.
If you prefer the convenience of having all emails for all accounts in
the same inbox and outgoing emails addressed from one account that is
set as the primary email account, this is the best option. You can use
your
ATMC
Internet CD to set up additional emails (see step 4) or setting up
an new email in Outlook Express for manual instructions for setting up
an ATMC email account.
Access additional accounts through our web-based email service.
This is a simple method that does not require any additional setup on
your computer. Just open up your web browser and go to
http://webmail.atmc.net
Set up multiple identities
in Outlook Express or profiles in Netscape Communicator. In Outlook
Express, you set each email account up in a separate identity. One
identity is set to the default and comes up when you open up Outlook
Express. To access the other account you would choose to switch
identities. In Netscape, when you open up Communicator, it will prompt
you to choose a profile.
Multiple Access Points (access one email account from multiple
machines)
When an email is sent to your address it is stored on a server until you
open an email software program such as Outlook Express to retrieve the
email. At that point all emails are removed from the server and
downloaded to the hard drive of that computer. When access is required
for the same email account at multiple locations, precautions must be
taken to ensure emails for an account are not scattered among many
computers. One computer should be chosen as the primary access point for
the email account. All other access points will then be considered
secondary access points. Options for multiple point access to one email
account include changing the settings on secondary access points to
leave a copy of the email on the server or at the secondary access
points, access the email through our web-based email service at
http://webmail.atmc.net/.
Leave mail on server settings are available on the Software section of
our support site based on the software program you are using.
