What About Overseas Roaming?*

ATMC now offers roaming to more than 54 countries in Europe, Asia, Australia, and Africa. Once you have the appropriate phone and have activated overseas roaming service, simply insert your regular ATMC SIM card into the phone, and you are ready to use your service. It's that easy! Registration within the foreign GSM network will be automatic. This provides a number of advantages:

  • Callers from home can still reach you just by dialing your regular ATMC number from the United States.
  • Calls made while roaming with your ATMC SIM card are billed to you on your regular ATMC bill, usually within thirty to sixty days after the calls were made.
  • Rates are attractive, making it convenient and economical to use your service overseas.

NOTE: Before roaming overseas, you must request activation of overseas roaming service. There is no charge for activating this service; however, some restrictions may apply. Roaming and international calling are not available to customers on Prepaid plans.

What Features Operate When I am Roaming?

Features that operate when you roam on most domestic and overseas GSM networks include call waiting, call forwarding, call hold, data, fax, and e-mail/short messaging. Caller ID operates in most North American markets, but is generally not supported when roaming overseas.

How do I place a call when roaming?

When you turn on your ATMC phone in another GSM network, you will become automatically registered with that network as a roamer, and the ATMC network will be alerted that you are active in the foreign network. Simply make your calls as you would on your home network.

How do I receive calls when roaming?

Just turn on your phone! Your calls will automatically be forwarded to the network in which you are roaming.

What type of phone is needed to roam overseas?

Overseas GSM service providers use a different radio frequency than in North America, so you will need a GSM phone that operates at 900 MHz in order to use your ATMC SIM card overseas. How will I be billed for GSM roaming in the US and Canada?

Due to some many different calling plans that we offer, billing can be particular to a specific plan. Call ATMC at 910.754.4311 to get your specific billing details.

How will I be billed for GSM roaming overseas?

Rates For Calls Made While Roaming Overseas vary by operator. Your bill will show a combined charge (airtime and toll added together) for international calls made while roaming overseas.

Rates For Calls Received While Roaming Overseas: For all incoming calls received while roaming overseas, you will be charged $1.50 per minute long distance. This represents the charge for delivering calls from your home area to you. In some countries, you will also be charged the applicable local call (airtime) rate.

Applicable taxes, and a small once-per-billing period administrative fee ($3.50) for each month you roam also apply. You will incur additional charges for call forwarding of calls while roaming, including calls that are conditionally forwarded to your voice mail.
