Tele-Media Conversion FAQs

Q.   Will I be without cable TV service during this conversion?
A.   No, you will not be without cable TV service. When we move into your neighborhood to begin the conversion to ATMC's cable TV system, you will have a reduced channel line-up until your home is switched. The sooner you call to schedule your cable TV conversion appointment, the sooner you will have access to the full channel line-up.

Q.   When will I be converted to ATMC cable TV service?
A.   We will move the conversion process as quickly as possible focusing on one neighborhood (one neighborhood = one phase) at a time. We anticipate each phase of the conversion process taking approximately two weeks. We anticipate the entire conversion process (all phases) taking 75-90 days. For the most up-to-date estimate as to when your neighborhood will be converted, please review our Tele-Media Conversion Schedule.

Tele-Media Cable Modem Conversion Frequently Asked Questions

Q.   Will I be able to keep my cable modem service?
A.   No. Because ATMC provides high speed Internet service using DSL, you will be switched over to ATMC?s high speed Internet service. The chief difference between cable modem service and DSL is the way in which it is delivered to you. Cable modems use a cable TV line and DSL uses the telephone line. Everything else works the same way. You will be able to continue doing everything you did with your cable modem service with DSL.

Q.   Will my Internet speeds go down?
A.   Your speeds will not decrease, in fact, they could actually get faster. ATMC will offer packages of Internet service equal to the same speeds you currently receive from Tele-Media (currently 128 Kbps or 1 Mbps). In addition, ATMC has faster speeds of 1.5 Mbps and 6 Mbps available. Check out our ATMC Broadband and Broadband Lite packages.

Q.   Do I have to have a telephone line to get ATMC Broadband service?
A.   Yes. If you currently have a telephone line from ATMC, you are set to go. If you don't have a telephone line, we will need to put one in. We have special options for Tele-Media customers without telephone service. Please call 755-1718 for more information.

Q.   Will I have to pay more for ATMC Broadband service?
A.   No. We will switch you over to our broadband service with the same speed at the same price you are currently paying. In some cases, you could actually pay less. Please call 755-1718 for details.

Q.   Will I need a new modem for ATMC Broadband service?
A.   Yes. ATMC will provide you with a new standard broadband modem at no cost.

Q.   Will I have to pay to be changed to ATMC Broadband service?
A.   No. We will convert you to ATMC Broadband for free.

Q.   Can I keep my current email address?
A.   No. Because Tele-Media owns their email addresses, you will be required to change your email address to an ATMC.net email address. You will be able to continue using your Tele-Media email address until October 31, 2008.

Q.   When can I switch to ATMC Broadband service?
A.   We will begin switching customers to ATMC Broadband on July 2nd. Please call 755-1718 to schedule your appointment.

Q.   Can I have my cable TV service and high speed Internet service converted at the same time?
A.   Because ATMC will be using different technicians to convert cable TV and Internet services, the conversions must take place separately.

Q.   Will my high speed Internet charges come on my monthly ATMC bill?
A.   If you have a telephone service with ATMC, your high speed Internet charges will be added to your monthly ATMC statement. If you do not have telephone service with ATMC, your monthly charges will be added to the bill you will begin receiving from ATMC in early August.

Q.   What if I have questions?
A.   If you have any questions relating to the conversion to ATMC Broadband high speed Internet service, please contact 755-1718.
