What is FTTH?

Fiber To The Home is a method of delivering services (Telephone, Internet, Cable TV, Security, etc.) over tiny strands of glass instead of the traditional copper and coaxial cables. Fiber optic cable has been in use for many years to connect long distance and Internet traffic across the country and the world with lightning fast speeds. ATMC is now bringing the fiber optic cable all the way to the side of the house.

Why FTTH?

The reason for using optical fiber in place of the traditional copper or coaxial cable is quite simple. Fiber has a much larger carrying capacity or bandwidth. Today's homeowner is using technologies that require more and more bandwidth and fiber optics are the only medium that can keep up with the bandwidth demand. A single hair-thin optical fiber can carry up to 1000 times as much information as copper or coax, yet it is easy to install and maintain and extremely reliable in operation. Fiber can carry multiple voice, data, or video streams into the same house at the same time!
