ATMC Sponsors Local Youth For Co-op Camp

The Cooperative Council of North Carolina held its 2012 Leadership Camp June 18th – 22nd at the North Carolina FFA Center at White Lake. Sponsored by ATMC and chosen to attend this year’s camp were John Bernheisel of Bolivia, Janzen Jones of Southport and Savanna Michaux of Oak Island. The Leadership Camp is an educational, five-day resident camping program consisting of speakers, workshops, recreation and small group sessions with special emphasis on how cooperatives operate and how to develop leadership skills.

John is the fifteen–year-old son of Tami Bernheisel. He has been active with the Brunswick County 4-H program for 4 years. Janzen is the fifteen-year-old daughter of Stephanie and John Jones and has been involved with 4-H for 10 years. Fifteen-year-old Savanna is daughter of John and Donna Michaux and has been active in the 4-H program for 10 years. Each student will be eligible for the $1,000 N.C. Cooperative Leadership Camp College Scholarship when he or she becomes a senior.

Allen Russ, ATMC CEO/General Manager, commented, “ATMC was proud to sponsor these students who attended the Cooperative Leadership Camp. These young people will benefit tremendously from this experience by learning leadership skills which will last them a lifetime. We appreciate our local 4-H representatives for their on-going support of this annual program.” ATMC has served as a camp sponsor since 1977.
